Artist Statement

My artwork comes from observation, instinct, and the elusive. Aesthetically I focus primarily on the elements of texture and layering. I experiment with the fluidity of the paint and with the reactions caused by combining other non- traditional materials such as; India ink, wood stains, and acrylex with the acrylic paint. My work also endeavors to foster curiosity in the viewer concerning the process and methods I employed while painting.

Connecting loose associations I collect images and lines piecing them together, creating a map or a big picture. I don’t like to be specific. It's an arrangement of the way I see places and things I encounter, forcing the viewer to see things they might normally ignore.
Currently I have been very interested in nature and the properties that comprise us; the physics and biology of it all. I am fascinated by our potential and the potential of every line and color that can be made. In everything I make I rely upon instincts to walk the tightrope of possibility. I center-in on one emotion to balance the page, canvas or frame into one harmonious picture. It’s a delicate, unpredictable experience that I love being involved with. Every picture presents a new challenge to solve and flow with.
